Title: Evening in the Selkirks

Date: 1900

Creator: Robert Ford Gagen

Additional Creator Information: Canadian, born in Great Britain (1847-1926)

Medium: watercolour on paper

Gagen's skilled depiction of atmospheric effects were enhanced by a lyrical sense of colour that combined to evoke a real sense of the mountains. In this scene, possibly of Marion Lake in Glacier National Park, the warm tints of evening light contrast with the purples and greens of the mountains.
