Title: Boys in Calf Barn, Little Bow Colony

Date: 1999

Creator: George Webber

Additional Creator Information: Canadian (b. 1952)

Medium: silver gelatin on paper, 1/40

This beautiful black and white image is from George Webber's series Little Bow Colony, in which he follows the lives and people of the Little Bow Hutterite Colony. Continued over many years, the series followed many children through adolescence and in to young adult hood. This high contrast image presents the boys against the near formless background of a calf barn, a location where the boys undoubtedly work, but also play.

What sort of jobs do you think the boys have in their colony?
