The North-West Mounted Police enjoyed the popular sports of the day. Many of the first members of the Force grew up playing cricket, either in their English homeland or in eastern Canada. This bat belonged to British-born NWMP Sergeant-Major William Parker, and has his son's name written on it. Parker may have made the bat in the 1870s and used it in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan.
