The Archives Photographs Catalogue contains 86,000 historical photographs, illustrations, cartoons and posters documenting the people, landscape and development of the Canadian West from the 1870s to the 1980s.
Ordering Photographs
You may purchase the images in the Archives Photographs Catalogue in high-resolution digital format (tiff) shipped to you on CD. Please use the feature called Your Images List to select your images and place your order online.
To order images not found in the Archives Photographs Catalogue, or to pay Usage Fees or Commercial Fees for images previously ordered from Glenbow, please contact us directly at archives@glenbow.org.
Search Tips
To do a wildcard search use "*" at the end of a string of letters. Example: "ranch*" will find ranches, rancher, ranching, etc.
To narrow a search (boolean "and") use "&" between the search terms. Example: "cowboy & horse" will find records in which both words occur.
To broaden a search (boolean "or") use "/" between the search terms. Example: "boat / canoe / steamship" will find records in which one of these terms occurs.
To search for one term but not another use "!" between the search terms. Example: "moose ! jaw" will find records related to the animal but not the town.
To search on a date range use ":" between the search terms. Example: "1950 : 1960" will find records with date information between and including the two years.
To search for an address in Calgary, use formats like these in the Keywords/Phrase box: 8th Avenue SW; 14th Street; Stephen Avenue; 2nd Street NW.
