Robert Hutchings, along with Thomas Riley, founded and ran the Great West saddlery company.
Arthur G. Graves was a Calgary alderman and later city commissioner.
William Pearce came to the west in 1874 as a surveyor. He later became superintendent of mines and was in charge of the Dominion government land department.

Home Oil Company was one of the pioneer operators in the Turner Valley oil field. It was organized in 1924 by Major James Lowery, a Edmonton Lawyer. In 1952 the company was taken over by Robert Brown of Federated Petroleum Limited.
