Remarks: Owner of Queen's Hotel and past owner of Empire and America Hotels.
John Swinarton came to Fort Macleod in 1898 and worked on the Bridge and Building crew of Canadian Pacific Railway at Fort Macleod and in the Crowsnest Pass.
He served on the town council from 1923 until his death in 1943. Mr. Swinarton was mayor of Fort Macleod from 1931-1933.
