Centre row L-R, Adults: Mrs. Lizzie Jean Bostock; Hewitt Bostock.
Hewitt Bostock, an Englishman, settled at Monte Creek, British Columbia, in 1893 as cattle rancher and fruit grower. In 1894 he founded the Weekly Province in Victoria, British Columbia and in 1894 the Daily Province. He was Liberal member for Yale-Cariboo, 1896-1904, and was called to the Senate in 1904.

Title: Leslie Towers, rancher, on his horse, Cochrane area, Alberta.

Date: 1930

Remarks: On "Old Red", wearing sheepskin chaps. Mr. Towers was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1884 and was the son of Frank Towers, who established the Towers Ranch in 1885.

Remarks: In 1885 Mr. Towers established the Towers Ranch in the Jumping Pound district near Cochrane.

Remarks: 1300 pounds. Carload topped the Chicago market at $8.75 per pound.

Remarks: Located at NW-20-25-4-W5. Jumping Pound creek running west to east. Hugh Wearmouth's home in foreground. The ranch was renamed the Towers and Wearmouth Ranch, and later the Wine Glass Ranch.

Title: Branding calf at Towers and Wearmouth Ranch, Jumping Pound district near Cochrane, Alberta.

Date: 1959

Remarks: Included are Hugh Wearmouth, Dick Wearmouth and Arthur Crawford.
Method of branding by calf chute was by running calf through corral chute into box. The door closed behind him and a lever turned chute, placing calf on it's side; a door opened on the side making it convenient for branding, etc. Once the chute was returned to it's original position, the front end opened.
