Title: Catholic Ladder of Heaven and Hell.

Date: [ca. 1870-1874]

Remarks: Pictorial catechism used for teaching purposes, during missionary work among First Nations of southern Alberta.
Created by Father Albert Lacombe, the ladder so impressed Pope Pius IX that, around 1874, he commissioned several thousand copies for mission work among "the savage tribes in different parts of the world." Original is approximately two metres in length.
