Remarks: Photograph is taken in his capacity as Provincial Secretary and humanitarian, addressing Prisoner's Farm Colony at Guelph, Ontario. He became president of Imperial Oil Limited from 1918 until his death March 20, 1919. He was also a vice president of International Petroleum Company Limited.

Title: Ronald W. MacKinnon, Imperial Oil dispatch bearer, after arrival in Edmonton, Alberta.

Date: March, 1922

Remarks: Ronald W. MacKinnon, age 36, travelled 1,250 miles from the Imperial Oil camp on Bear Island near Fort Norman, N.W.T. He later became manager of the Imperial Oil refinery at Norman Wells.

Remarks: In 1914, Smith became vice president of Imperial Oil Limited and International Petroleum Company. In 1917, he was elected president of International Petroleum Company. The enormous development work carried out by this company in Peru and Colombia was accomplished under his direction. In 1926, he was elected a director of the Standard Oil Company (New Jersey). He was president of Imperial Oil Limited from 1933 - 1944.
