Date: 1914

Remarks: Located at 234 Smythe [Smithe] and Cambie streets. This first service station opened in June, 1907.
John E. Hayden is in front of the office and Syd Alexander is at the pump.

Title: Female Imperial Oil service station attendants, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Date: [ca. 1917-1919]

Remarks: Photograph captioned "The great war emergency." Six women, working at three stations, were employed by Imperial Oil during the First World War. This picture was taken on a Sunday (out of working hours) at the south-east corner of Broadway and Granville location. The woman on the extreme left, Margaret Hilder (later Legg), and the woman on the extreme right, worked at this location. Second from the right is Olive Owen.

Title: Imperial Oil service station, Edmonton, Alberta.

Date: 1920

Remarks: Self-serve gas station. The motorist takes hold of the hose outlet, gurns on the faucet athe nozzle and helps himself to the required quantity of gasoline. When the tank is filled, he turns off the supply and the gauge registers the amount he has to pay for.
