History: William Stewart Herron, 1870-1939, was born in Gelert, Ontario and was involved in contracting and the timber business in Haileybury, Ontario from 1896 to 1904. In the latter year he married Edith Isobel Sithes and moved to Alberta where he was involved in farming and the petroleum industry. He helped found Calgary Petroleum Products, Okalta Oils, Sanca Mines, and Chinook Oils. He also operated the Herron Cartage Company and Herron Nolan and Company, a brokerage firm. Scope and Content: The fonds consists of two alphabetical series of correspondence files covering all of Herron's business, financial and mining activities, one series of invoices for Herron Cartage and one series of general correspondence. Includes photographs of the Herron family and oil drilling activities, and an interview with William Stewart Herron II, recorded by Jack Peach in 1987.
