History:
The Order of Maccabees, a fraternal benefit society, was established in London, Ontario in 1878 to provide its members with life, health and accident insurance. The Society operated in four provinces and in many American states and at its height had over 70 local units or "Tent Hives" in Canada. The international headquarters was in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Tent Hive No. 2 was established in Calgary, Alberta in 1936.

Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of minute; procedures manuals; membership records; charitable and social activities files; drill team records; photographs of officers, members and activities; records related to the use of the Maccabees Hall; and financial records; charter of Tent Hive #1.
