History:
Music Coterie, a Calgary, Alberta women's music club, was organized in 1955. Virginia Rylands was both the founder and first president. The Club's objective is to encourage and stimulate musical participation among women of varied musical background, before a non-critical and appreciative audience. Members give recitals at each monthly meeting.

Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of constitution, minutes, publicity and membership correspondence, programs, scrapbooks, and a recording of member's performances. Includes a biography of the first honorary member, Gladys Flint McLennan.

Source of Acquisition:
Gift of Music Coterie, 1988 and 2012.
