History:
The University Women's Club of Calgary was founded in Calgary, Alberta in 1923, four years after the formation of its national affiliate, the Canadian Federation of University Women. Membership is limited to women with university degrees. The purposes of the club are to assist in maintaining high standards of education in Canada, to stimulate members' interest and participation in public affairs, provide an opportunity for collective action, and to facilitate intellectual and social pursuits among members. The club has taken an active interest in school curricula and libraries, status of women, day care, penal reform, pornography, prostitution, young offenders, and human rights. In 1995 the club changed its name to Canadian Federation of University Women, Calgary Club.

Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of constitution, annual reports, minutes, membership lists, correspondence, financial records, briefs, newsletters, conference proceedings and scrapbooks.

History:
The Calgary North branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women was organized in Calgary, Alberta in 1988 by Linda Pelton, as the second local affiliate of the organization. Membership is restricted to women with university degrees. In addition to interest groups and a monthly program of educational speakers, the club fundraises extensively to support a scholarship at the University of Calgary as well as other social and educational programs.

Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of constitution and bylaws, annual reports, minutes, correspondence, newsletters, financial statements, programs and miscellany.
