History:
The Calgary Light Opera Society was established in Calgary, Alberta in 1927 to produce musical theatre in Calgary. Among the musical directors were George E. Bower and Clifford Higgin. Producers included Gordon Holmwood, Keith Jones and Max Bishop. Between 1928 and 1936 the society produced semi-annual performances of well-known light operas. In 1937 the organization became dormant.

Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of constitution and bylaws, correspondence, financial statements, legal agreements, programs, scripts, and photographs of performances.
