The Calgary Chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators was established in Calgary, Alberta in 1976 with Don Worden as president. Its objectives are to promote the improvement of the records and information management field, to advance the field's professional standards, and to advance professional knowledge through study, education, research, and sharing of information. In 1977, the Canadian Region VIII of ARMA was formed. The Calgary chapter keeps in close liaison with the regional vice-president and other Canadian chapters. In 1978, night classes in records management began at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), in cooperation with the chapter. In 1982, these classes moved to Mount Royal College. The chapter was incorporated in 1983.
