History: The Alberta Irrigation Association was formed in 1947 when representatives of eight irrigation districts met in Lethbridge. Its objects are to promote, stimulate and stabilize development, and improve the operation, maintenance, and administration of existing irrigation projects. The organization, now called the Alberta Irrigation Projects Association, acts as a forum for members and as a lobby and advisory body to the provincial and federal governments, particularly with respect to capital works rehabilitation projects for the irrigation systems. Members include the Aetna, Bow River, Eastern, Leavitt, Lethbridge Northern, Magrath, Mountain View, Raymond, Ross Creek, St. Mary River, Taber, United and Western Irrigation Districts. Carl J. Anderson has been prominent in the association.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of minutes, correspondence and irrigation reports.
