History: The Alberta Federation of Home and School Associations was organized in 1929 to provide local home and school associations across the province with a central body to coordinate policies and activities. Its objectives include support for the policies of the Canadian Federation of Home and School and the Parent-Teacher Federation, and cooperation with other organizations involved in the care and education of children in the home, school and community. In the 1990s the name was changed to the Alberta Home and School Councils' Association. Scope and Content: The fonds consists of minutes, policy statements, newsletters, convention material and scrapbooks of the AFHSA. Includes minute books of various local home and school associations, including Connaught, East Calgary Bungalow, Colonel Walker, Didsbury, Ramsay and Cypress View. Also includes brief histories of the Armena HSA, and Glengarry School.
