Jack F. Dunn was an author and school teacher in Calgary, Alberta. His master's thesis in history at the University of Calgary was entitled "The Alberta Field Force of 1885" [1979]. It was subsequently published as The Alberta Field Force of 1885 / J. F. Dunn. - Calgary: J. F. Dunn, 1994. He later published The North-West Mounted Police, 1873-1885 / Jack F.
