History: The Saskatoon Piano Company Ltd. was started in Saskatoon, in 1932, by Samuel E. Collard. Although it remained a Saskatchewan registered company with its legal head office in Saskatoon, the business activities of the company were transferred totally to Calgary, Alberta the same year. Collard sold both new and used pianos, but his main trade was in selling old pianos which he had repaired. Collard expanded into British Columbia in the late 1930s, creating the BC Piano Company Ltd. In 1952, the Saskatoon Piano Company's assets were bought out by the Alberta Piano Company Ltd.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of registration of company, correspondence with customers, correspondence regarding newspaper advertising, general ledgers and cashbooks, and musical instrument pricelist.
