Rowe, Laws family fonds
1865-1952, predominant 1910-1939
25 cm of textual records. -- 201 photographs
George P. Rowe, 1876-1930, was born in Missouri, USA. In 1904 he married Emma Lavina D. Toellner, 1884-1955?, also of Missouri. They homesteaded near Vulcan, Alberta in 1907, but sold the farm in 1917 so George could be treated at the Mayo Clinic. They returned to Alberta in 1918 and purchased a ranch south of Fort Macleod. After George died, Emma married Luther Laws in 1934. Luther, ?-1937, had homesteaded in the Vulcan area in 1906. He moved to Calgary in 1927, where he worked as a carpenter. Emma remained in Calgary after Luther's death.
These papers were in the custody of Effie A. Duperrier Munch MacDonald, a close neighbour of the family. They were inherited by her daughter, Audrey Munro, who donated them to the Glenbow.
