History: The Oil Wives Club of Calgary was formed in Calgary, Alberta in 1952 as a social and recreational club for the wives of men engaged in various aspects of the oil and petroleum industry in the Calgary area. Other local clubs soon formed, and in 1975 they collaborated to form the Association of Oil Wives Clubs. AOWC helped unify club membership, rules and activities, and organized annual conventions. Scope and Content: The fonds consists of constitution and bylaws, minutes (1952-1988), membership rosters (1958-1990), correspondence, financial records, convention proceedings, newsletters and circulars, records regarding affiliated clubs, scrapbooks, and photographs of members and activities.
