During the Second World War the Loves began to develop and manufacture livestock feed concentrates for mixture with grains. When another son, Edward Ernest MacLeod "Ernie" Love, 1918-2002, joined the firm at the end of the war the name J.E. Love and Sons Ltd. was adopted. Jack became president of the company on his father's death, and Ernie became manager in the 1970s. The hide business and the buildings on 4th Street were sold in 1968.
