Lillian Bertha Craigie, 1899-1982, was born in Lacombe, Alberta, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Edward Montrose Sharpe. She taught school at Leedale and other Alberta locations before 1919 when she gave up teaching to keep house for her father and his second wife, Alice. She was very active in the Lacombe branch of the Women's Missionary Society of the United Church, and was an avid gardener. Two years after Dr. Sharpe's death in 1947, she married Will Craigie, ?-1953, a retired farmer in the Lacombe area. After suffering a stroke in 1975 she moved into a nursing home in Red Deer.
Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of personal correspondence, diaries and journals of trips (1954-1957); scrapbooks regarding history and personalities of the Lacombe area (1911-1960); programs and reports of the Women's Missionary Society (1926-1928, 1948-1949); photographs of the Sharpe family and Lacombe groups and views; and miscellaneous family postcards, greeting cards, programs, poems and autograph books.
