International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 348 fonds

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) was established in the USA in 1891. Local 348 was chartered in Calgary, Alberta in 1905 and represented electricians and electrical workers from a wide variety of local organizations and businesses.

Custodial History:
From 1973 to 1974 this fonds was held by the University of Calgary Library.

Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of minutes (1921-1941, 1950-1956); union membership records (1906-1930, 1945-1950); general business files re all aspects of the union's local activities, as well as national and international labour concerns (1913-1930); and financial records (1923-1953). Includes material relating to the One Big Union and the Winnipeg General Strike (1919).
