History:
Highland Oil Company Ltd. was incorporated in Alberta in 1926 with Louis D. Taylor as president, J.J. Bowlen as vice-president, and J.M. "Jack" Dillon as secretary. Its head office was in Calgary. It held 300 acres (120 hectares) of leases in the Turner Valley oilfield, and drilled its only well there in 1926. When this well failed to produce, it handed over virtually all of its assets to Regent Oil Company Ltd. in 1927, in return for shares in that company. Highland Oil went into liquidation shortly after, and was struck from the companies register in 1932.

Custodial History:
These records were salvaged from the Hollinsworth Building, owned by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, before the Bankers Hall project renovations were begun. HOC, or its lawyer, had offices in the building.

Scope and Content:
The fonds consists of prospectus, business correspondence, shares registers, drilling reports, financial statements and liquidation records. Includes personal correspondence between Jack Dillon and Guy Weadick (1925).
