History: On November 20, 1936 the Hampton Mutual Telephone Co. Ltd., in the Ohaton area of Alberta, received its charter. It was created, along with many other rural mutual companies, as an economy measure of Alberta Government Telephones. AGT turned over its rural lines to local groups while retaining control over line connection, some supplies, and standards of construction and maintenance. On October 30, 1970 the company was reintegrated with AGT and its subscribers were linked with the main telephone system.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of bylaws, minutes of annual and directors' meetings, correspondence with AGT and subscribers, and accounts. Includes bylaws of the Donalda Northern Mutual Telephone Company.
