History: In 1964 the Bow Valley Gavel Club No. 13 was organized as an affiliate of Toastmasters International. It was the only all-female Gavel Club in Alberta. The women involved were encouraged to learn basic parliamentary procedure and the art of public speaking. In August 1973, Toastmasters International voted to allow women into the organization. After accepting one man into the club, the Gavel Club applied for a Toastmasters Charter, which they received on February 7, 1974 under their present name.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of constitution, minutes, agendas, membership records and and financial material of Golden Gavel Toastmasters Club and its predecessor Bow Valley Gavel Club No. 13. Includes scrapbooks compiled by Irene Murray and Wally Wolf.
