History: The Glenbow Archives has collected a variety of songbooks and song sheets over the years, in particular ones which were unique to Alberta and Calgary. Many were published by local newspapers and businessses, while others were used by clubs and organizations for singalongs at their meetings. Some well-known songs had local words written for them.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of song sheets and songbooks, primarily with lyrics, but sometimes featuring the musical scores as well. They have been arranged in the following categories: Alberta (including Edmonton and Calgary); Camp Songs; Canadian; Christmas Carols; Hymns and Spirituals; Military and War; Patriotic; Popular Music; Schools and Educational; and Miscellaneous.
