Andy Philip's Calgary News collection

37.5 cm of textual records. -- 11 photographs

This collection was accumulated by newsman, Andy Philip, 1919-2003, as a result of his activities as a reporter and broadcaster for CHQR radio station in Calgary, Alberta. The records cover a broad range of issues and events, and give a good indication of the political, economic and developmental concerns of Calgarians, particularly during the mid-1970s. His wife, Catherine Rosie Young, 1922-2008, was a freelance journalist and historian.

Scope and Content:
The collection consists of Andy Philip's news files re stories of interest to Calgarians (1967-1976). Includes photographs of the Four Seasons Hotel and the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline inquiry by Justice T.R. Berger. Also includes articles written by Catherine Philip about her family, CFGP Radio (Grande Prairie) the Alaska Highway, and the Calgary Zoo's history.
