The Barons Women's Institute was formed in 1915 with the same objectives as the Alberta Women's Institute movement: helping local women acquire home-making skills; training women for leadership; promoting social, moral, civic and educational betterment; and safeguarding the welfare of home, community and country. In addition, the Barons WI was interested in agricultural matters and women's issues, and raised money for various local organizations and improvement projects. Due to a decline in membership and interest, the Barons WI disbanded in 1970.
