At the suggestion of the Canadian Dietetic Association, the Alberta Dietetic Association was organized in 1955 with Mrs. M. Hamilton as first president. The association was incorporated as the Alberta Registered Dietitians Association in 1959. The scope of the association's interests and activities have been to serve and protect the public, to promote the profession and to improve the status of the members. By 2003 the association had folded in favour of the College of Dietitians of Alberta.
