History: From approximately 1971 to 1984 the Historic Sites Service branch of the Alberta Department of Culture undertook a survey of Calgary buildings built prior to 1940, including houses, businesses, schools, public buildings, etc. The Calgary survey was part of a larger project conducted throughout Alberta, to build a database of information on the province's architectural heritage.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of inventory site forms for Calgary, which record the legal description, date of construction, condition, architectural details, and history of the buildings surveyed. The forms, which are arranged by street address, include a photograph taken at the time of the survey.
